Vector One is a single database specifically designed to provide True Patient Measures™. Vector One differentiates between true new patient prescriptions, continuing prescriptions, and switch/add patient transactions for providers at every level, including MDs/DOs and allied healthcare practitioners. VOPEX is a targeting tool that provides you with enhanced marketing opportunities to segment your true prescriber audience.

Since 2000, SDI has been assembling Vector One, a database that projects both traditional prescription metrics and True Patient Measures by linking incoming raw patient data and providers through a common encryption engine. SDI's patented, HIPAA-compliant de-identification process creates a unique, irreversibly encrypted patient code that links prescribers to patients to give true patient counts. The patient-encryption process also minimizes the possibility of having duplicate counts.

Vector One's True Patient Measures represent data collected on the pharmacy, medical, and hospital levels. This robust cross-section payer data plus pharmacy activity enables SDI to provide a more comprehensive view of the prescriber. The data also accounts for projected starts, switches, and diagnoses.

Traditionally, competitors have rolled in information on new prescriptions without distinguishing whether the actual prescription indicates a new patient transaction, a switch of, or switch on to therapy. SDI's de-identified patient data is the only data that makes this distinction, allowing pharmaceutical companies and healthcare marketers to correctly define high, medium, and low writers across all prescribers, plus identify who is switching to or from competitors' drugs.

Why is VOPEX superior to its competitors?
  • The data can target all types of prescribers -- MD, DO, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, certified nurse specialist, and certified nurse midwife.
  • The data is scalable across time, geography, and product groupings.
  • The only database that classifies EVERY transaction as it comes into the stream as new, continuing/refill, or switch/add.
  • Data is based on geographic coverage that touches 97% of retail pharmacies in the United States.
  • Best patient ID algorithm yields lower "new start" rates.
  • Counts are provided within hours from receipt of requests. List orders are processed within 1 or 2 days from receipt of purchase order and/or sample mail piece.
SDI's algorithm is more accurate because:
  • It takes into account payment type of prescription.
  • It accounts for actual sample activity in 97% of stores vs. 60%-70% for traditional projection audits.

The projection method is calculated at the physician level and reconciled against territory and state-level "checkbook" estimates, thereby ensuring that the sum of physicians equals the national total.
