FAN Flu/Cold/Respiratory Activity Notification Program®
The most comprehensive program of its kind, our Flu/Cold/Respiratory Activity Notification program (FAN®) measures the total affected population with upper respiratory illness at the national level down to 135 markets. FAN provides critical status levels for each regional market area, reflecting seasonal severity and potential spread rate of illness throughout the season. With consumers only purchasing cough-cold and flu-related products when afflicted, this data is vital for maximizing ROI on promotions, marketing, product placement, and supply chain. The FAN program offers retailer-specific reporting as well, designed to each retailer’s specific trading area and distribution network.
Clients can also optimize seasonal account planning by using the FAN Promotional Index® (FPI) tool, which combines ECRM’s MarketGate Ad Comparison Tool and SDI’s FAN program data to provide a measurement that scores ad timing alignment to affected population levels throughout the cough-cold and flu season. FPI provides guidance for better ad timing that will influence consumer buying behavior during the cough/cold and flu season. The FPI tool is a collaborative venture between SDI and ECRM®.

FANDx™ – Respiratory Diagnoses Program
This program is designed to track weekly the number of total patients suffering with upper respiratory cough/cold/sinus on a national and market level.
Flu Alert Center® – Information Center for Flu
Center that correlates various data sets relating to reported cases of influenza.
FluTrack® – Influenza Tracking Program
This laboratory-reporting program includes confirmed and non-confirmed cases of viral influenza on a national and market level.
FluDx™ – Flu Diagnosis Program
This program is designed to track weekly the number of total patients suffering with influenza on a national and market level.
Influenza Trigger Program® – Flu Timing Program
This is designed to “trigger” influenza vaccine activities prior to occurrence of the disease in a specific geographic area. SDI's Flu Trigger® is used to designate an expected rise in market level severity allowing for timed media and or physician detailing.
Early Warning System
Our clinical surveillance is also used to monitor populations at risk for both the development of vaccines and the development of an “early warning system” for viruses involved in pandemic disease. For example, we provide agencies with access to de-identified, HIPAA-compliant data from more than 600 laboratories, allowing respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) data to be shown nationally, as well as by state.
This clinical surveillance data provides parents, physicians, and public health officials with more reliable RSV data trends and estimates of when the RSV season begins and ends, leading to improved patient education and care.

Enhance your Web site with FAN® Online, which allows your consumers to view their local illness levels broken out by adult and pediatric.
